Recent updates from this team-
April 30 at 5:59 PMThis has been great fun and I have learned so much. Can't wait to do it again - and to get more people involved.
-
April 30 at 5:57 PMLoss of trees and green spaces, both public and private. Density of housing and business seems to be the rule - at least in my part of town. Where will the birds live? Where will people relax and recreate?
-
April 30 at 5:39 PMI worry about the ocean. We are a watery planet. The health of our ocean is critical to the Earth's health, but since we don't see it, it's way too easy to ignore. How do we communicate the state of the ocean to people everywhere?

April 30 at 5:23 PMI buy almost all my food at my local co-op, which is not listed here, so I'm going to talk to the board and see what we can do about this.
-
April 30 at 5:22 PMReduce and reuse always come before recycle.

-
April 30 at 5:20 PMI waste very little, but my household tosses a lot of food that is bad or past its date. All of this is now funneled to the chickens and/or the compost piles.
-
April 30 at 5:19 PMTrash. Thanks to our friends wind and water, trash anywhere ends up in the local creeks, on to the rivers and the oceans. I carry a trash bag on every walk and pick up the trash that seems to be everywhere - moving it into nearby trashcans rather than streams. I also reduce my own trash by avoiding plastic and reusing containers.

April 30 at 4:04 PMYears ago, when I planted my first herb garden, I discovered the dill was being eaten by big striped caterpillars. I didn't know what they were and my twenty-something self thought they were frighteningly cool. Years later, I learned that they were black swallowtail caterpillars. Now, I plant lots of dill so that we ALL have plenty. I consider...
