April 30 at 7:51 AMThe April 2021 ecochallenge has been a great journey; thanks for reaching out to all DNV colleagues Bill :-) In addition to looking after my "spring" garden, which also includes 2 bee-hotels and 2 bird-cages (one is home to a blue-tit couple these days), I have also enjoyed learning/reading about expiration dates, Science Based...

April 29 at 10:46 AMWhat I've noticed is that I haven't taken any of the daily walks I planned this month. It's been a busy period and I just haven't prioritized it. But I can always turn over a new leaf in May! :)

April 27 at 10:29 AMWhat inspires me? A desire to conserve natural resources for future generations and the fact that we have only one earth to call home and we should be good stewards of it. I think many of the problems we face in terms of environmental damage are due to business leaders and governments being too short-sighted and thinking in terms of their...

April 23 at 7:10 PMSo I found some plant based sea food alternatives at Sprouts market here in Lynnwood. Munching on some non crabby crabby patties and it was pretty good. Not like the original of course but I could pronounce all the ingredients. Sophi’s Kitchen is the brand. Also have some tuna and fish filet alternatives to try. Will update with those results.

April 23 at 8:20 AMLots of reasons come to mind: Ease of access, marketing, tradition, convenience. Western culture is very disconnected from the sources of our food. The science on the benefits and risks of eating meat seems to conflict, from what I've read, but it's clear that the environmental impact of cattle-produced methane is a real problem. Biodigesters...

April 23 at 8:11 AMI will be better able to answer this question later this year when I'm more involved with direct client service, but I think I would be comfortable asking. In the meantime, I'm thinking it might be good to if DNV were to collaborate with climatetrace.org in some manner (if we aren't already doing so).

April 22 at 8:02 PMWanted to share a link to "Lightning Talks: Otters" presented by the Seattle Aquarium on the topic of how Sea Otters may help to mitigate some impacts of climate change. Fascinating talk! Lightning Talks: Otters - YouTube A key takeaway is that where sea otters are present, kelp forests thrive, and kelp is an important source of...

April 22 at 1:40 PMThe list that was supplied here was not the easiest to navigate and find companies who get their power supplies from renewables. For large purchases, I'll certainly research the suppliers net-zero commitment and how they source their energy.

April 22 at 11:19 AMHappy Earth Day, friends! I hope you're all enjoying the EcoChallenge so far. I've been doing lots of research trying to figure out what to plant in my yard this spring. With Arbor Day coming up next Friday I'm on the hunt for a couple of trees that will do well in acidic soil. It's so hard to narrow down the options!

April 15 at 2:42 PMKnowing the difference between the Use by, Sell by and Best by dates makes me feel more comfortable when assessing the likely quality and usability of the food/product. Some very good practical advise found in the related articles as well.
