April 30 at 12:22 PMYES! Besides sequestering carbon, research is currently suggesting that biochar could reduce methane produced by livestock and increase tree survival rates. Planting millions of trees isn't helpful if the survival rate of those trees don't improve.

April 28 at 8:35 AMDoes anybody else buy laundry detergent in pouches to refill those thick plastic jugs the detergent comes in? It saves a bit of plastic, and it saves money. Another laundry soap alternative I use is laundry sheets, which is soap without liquid.

April 22 at 2:34 PMIn hopes of reducing my waste, I purchased reusable produce bags instead using the plastic ones provided by the grocery stores.

April 18 at 5:59 PMIt’s ok, I’m behind actions taken and eating zero waste is just as hard as I imagined, since even veggies come packaged or stickered

April 18 at 5:01 PMMaybe it’s an unconscious affiliation with abundance? Not sure. When visiting Seoul in 2019 I noticed how expensive beef is (maybe $20-25 for a smallish steak) and fish somewhat less. Chicken was not as ubiquitous as in the US and there’s more tofu and veggies in cuisine. So meat is a luxury.

April 18 at 4:55 PMMake soup stock! Use the trimmed ends from chopped veggies like scallions, mushrooms, anything. Bring to boil, cover and simmer for maybe 30min. The longer the better but I’m usually in a hurry. The use for soup right away or freeze for later use.
