REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Angela De Nigro 4/27/2021 8:30 AMI drove 40 miles away and explored a downtown area by foot, bike and a little by car. It was fun and beautiful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Explore Other Food, Agriculture, and Land Use SolutionsWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Angela De Nigro 4/27/2021 8:27 AM24% of greenhouse gasses come from agriculture! That's a lot and add that to the amount of food that is wasted from those crops- sad. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Angela De Nigro 4/27/2021 8:20 AMTo have a sustainable community- smal level, I expect some land for growing food and raising chickens would be needed. A water source with filtration.
I think it is costly for small level and even more costl to change large communities to be sustainable. Very important but the majority of the population needs to be on board. Getting people to think about sustainability and long-term- past their own life, seems daunting to me.-
Karem Montemayor 4/28/2021 8:26 AMAgreed. This is a daunting task and the buy in is one of the hardest parts. Incentivizing this lifestyle is key, because unfortunately, future generations are not always considered.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Angela De Nigro 4/19/2021 8:44 AMI notice the drange could be much better on wet days or whwn yards are being watered. It is dirty in my neighborhood and I carry a bag to pick up trash. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Support a Community GardenWhat are the multiple benefits of community gardens, including carbon sequestration? Why do these benefits matter to you?
Angela De Nigro 4/19/2021 8:42 AMI appreciate community gardens as they are a local space to enjoy the dirt, feel a particular a community and see the growth of plants- something that all people not may have access to without yards or local community gardens. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Angela De Nigro 4/19/2021 8:38 AMWow, so much usable food is wasted!!! I fall prey to the dates but I will make en effort to be less wasteful based on dates -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Support Businesses Owned by Women, BIPOC, or ImmigrantsGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?
Angela De Nigro 4/13/2021 1:58 PMI don't only buy from women owned. I try to buy a quality that I can afford and be proud of. It feels good to me when who I support is a minority. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More about BiomassHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Building With Carbon Storing Waste ProductsHow feasible do you think it is for society to build with agricultural waste products?
Angela De Nigro 4/09/2021 12:02 PMFeasibility and willingness are factors that I feel are on opposite sides. It seems like a good idea to build with waste product such as rice hulls as it will be discarded/burned/ decomposed otherwise. I hope builders/buyers find it good to use in chemical free building products. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Learn about BiocharCan biochar provide additional benefits besides sequestering carbon?
Angela De Nigro 4/07/2021 2:06 PMBiochar seems to add nutrients to soil that transfers to the food grown in it. That's more than simply sequestering carbon.
