  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Buildings Learn about 'Green Gentrification'
Cities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/30/2021 9:08 AM
Bringing community leaders to the table in city and civic policy decisions. Often BIPOC are most effected, but less likely to be in positions of leadership at a city level, which has big determining factors to the budget and progression of climate action/policy,
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Go by Bike
How does using human-powered transportation make you feel compared to using other methods of transportation?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/28/2021 9:36 AM
Its inconvenient, slightly dangerous but so freeing. I feel like I can actually see the world around me, and I am so much more aware of my neighborhood.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/28/2021 8:28 AM
Being knowledgeable about who uses public transport currently and why more arent utilizing it is a first step. My perception of people's perception is that public transport like buses are unsafe, inconvenient and dirty. This does not have to be the case.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/27/2021 8:06 AM
YES! Everytime I ride my bike, I realize the road is terrible and bike policy and infrastructure improvements go a long way!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/27/2021 8:06 AM
Everyday, I notice the trash and how privileged I am to live in an area where my park is regularly maintenanced. One day, the trash can was over flowing and it struck me that I never have ever seen it overflowing due to good daily maintaining of the space.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Conduct Virtual Meetings
How can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/27/2021 8:05 AM
When on zoom or any virtual platform, I make the intention to be completely present, forward facing and upbeat. It goes a long way to engage people and lighten the mood.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/27/2021 8:04 AM
taking off my shoes. I often do this when I want to feel the ground beneath me. It gives me a sense of grounding, like I can feel the earth speaking to me through my feet.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/27/2021 8:03 AM
I never knew the refuse, repurpose and repair...so knowing that I can use things to their last utilization ahs been very empowering.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Karem Montemayor's avatar
    Karem Montemayor 4/27/2021 8:02 AM
