Bakita's actions
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 50 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
Conduct Virtual Meetings
Telepresence
I will encourage my office to hold meetings virtually whenever possible instead of requiring travel.
Health and Education
Spend Time Exercising
When you exercise outdoors, you reduce your carbon footprint because you are minimizing the use of energy-consuming machines. Exercising in your home is a good way to start the reduction process, as it does not require any travel in your vehicle. However, we typically turn on lights, fans, and/or televisions to accomplish our workout, and those items do contribute to our carbon footprint.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Reduce Animal Products
Plant-Rich Diets
I will enjoy 1 meatless or vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Bakita Abuodha 4/07/2021 6:14 PMOn my daily walk today, I particularly enjoyed and appreciated how green and lush my neighborhood is. I am grateful for infrastructure such as sidewalks. Having streets without cars would make my walks more enjoyable is. Please share with me your experience?-
Sarosh Sepai 4/07/2021 7:21 PMWe live in the country-side and our walks take us next to fields over rolling hills with lovely sunsets. Other than the exercise, walking especially with a friend or family is a great way to tech-detoxify. It also allows you to bond with the company walking with you. Walking in a natural setting allows you to inhale fresh air and enjoy nature, the chirping birds, blue skies with puffy clouds and sunsets.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Bakita Abuodha 4/06/2021 2:31 PMSaved money by not throwing away food that otherwise provides me with nutrients.
