    Land Sinks Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

Well, by exploring the land around me, I get a better sense of where everything is. I learn where things are in my region, and how different places interact with each other. For instance, I went and explored my local watershed. I could see where the snow melts up in the mountains, and see where the water comes down the mountains and into the deep valleys. I received a better understanding of where the water I drink comes from in this area.

Went for a walk with my adventure pal. Did it barefoot. Also, I had two veggie meals, but when I saw the cafeteria serving a chef special, which was quail, I could not help but try some... Tastes like chicken.

I am grateful for this Challenge as I learned a great deal about Mother Earth. I am using Bamboo products instead of plastic products whenever I can. Before this Challenge, I was unaware that plastic was manufactured from petroleum products. I promise to do better!

I love being able to take the bus. I started taking the bus 4 or 5 years ago and it made me appreciate the convenience and experience of bus-riding as compared to just driving everywhere. I also like being able to walk and bike places as an alternative to driving. It's good for my body and refreshing for my mind.

Going alright. I walked around a little bit and enjoyed some veggie meals.

We could make sure that there are more designated places to walk that are safe and away from busy roads. I think having more peaceful attractions such as Lithia Park really encourages people to get out there, walk and just enjoy nature!

My Earth month ecochallenge is going way better than expected. I am learning so much on this platform and taking what I learn here to do my own research on the side!

It's going good today! I walked around on my school's campus, and I had a plant-based protein smoothie.

Land Sinks Support a Community Garden
What are the multiple benefits of community gardens, including carbon sequestration? Why do these benefits matter to you?

Community gardens bring people together in a place that fosters connections to nature, food, and other people. Community gardens also act as carbon sinks through the process of plants taking atmospheric carbon and absorbing it and passing it into the soil when they die through enrichment. Primarily, the first benefit of providing a connection to nature and food is important to me, because there are few places in today's society where people can build their own relationship with the food system and the natural world.

One way that modern human societies has become unsustainable is by relying on vehicles to live our day to day lives.

We can change this by sourcing things hyper locally.
