REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Help Students Overcome Health BarriersIn what other ways could you help girls overcome health barriers to being able to attend school?
Louise Jane Wilkinson 4/15/2021 12:53 PMits hard to comprehend that such a basic need can STILL be affecting so many young women in schools in North America. Sponsoring one girl for one year is the least each of us can do -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Express My Support For Equitable Biking InfrastructureWhat do you like most about biking in your city? What would you like to improve?
Louise Jane Wilkinson 4/15/2021 12:43 PMFabulous timing for this action - HUB, a non-profit in BC who advocate for active transit, sent out a mailshot with an auto-complete tool to send a note to all my local representatives. Messaged 7 members of local government in under 2 mins! Anyone else in BC want to do the same? here's the link: https://bikehub.ca/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=31 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy CreditsYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Louise Jane Wilkinson 4/05/2021 11:00 AMI offset all of my at-home emissions for 2020 today, and it didn't cost anywhere near as much as i thought - less than $100 USD. Totally worth it-
Louise Jane Wilkinson 4/15/2021 12:56 PMHi Charles. It coasts so little, that i don't understand why offsets are not included as standard when we make purchases. I know some places do that already - Etsy for example, include offsets for the delivery in their fees - but it should be standard practice! -
Charles White 4/07/2021 8:28 AMLouise, I think that's an interesting point, that it cost less than you thought. Do you think carbon offsets/taxes should be more expensive to make energy conservation more incentivizing?

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Louise Jane Wilkinson 4/02/2021 11:17 AMWholesome food grown without chemicals is a huge win
Today I ate an omelette made from eggs purchase from a local free-run farmer (yes, bought from the side of the road). Cheaper, tastier and better for you than factory farmed ✅ -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?
Louise Jane Wilkinson 4/02/2021 11:02 AMWhat would I rather spend $1500 on? Flights to visit my family! After the pandemic is over, and 100% offset, obviously!
Today’s waste? Two slightly mouldy strawberries from the bottom of the punnet
