REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating Solutions Conduct Virtual MeetingsHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
Andrea Haller 4/30/2021 4:41 PMWe always talk a lot and encourage "always learning," by suggesting opportunities for learning, like virtual conferences, professional talks, and online courses. We recognize employees in our company that go further and excel in winning scientific awards. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Andrea Haller 4/30/2021 4:37 PMMeat is so bad for your body! I have been vegan for over 10 years now, due to dietary AND ethical reasons. Expensive meat dishes are socially equated with social status, bc rich people want to eat rich (expensive) food. It is a status that needs to be "squashed!" -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Andrea Haller 4/30/2021 4:35 PMHaving smaller portions may help prevent weight gain. You can always get up and get a little more if you're still hungry. Store leftovers right away in reusable / dishwasher safe packaging. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Mulch the Base of Trees and PlantsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Andrea Haller 4/30/2021 4:34 PMPeople that do not pick up their dog waste. I live across the street from a park, and there are many piles of dog waste. This is harmful to the water systems. I hope that the City installs dog waste bins and provides dog waste bags (biodegradable) to encourage more responsible dog owners. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Support Companies Leading in Green EnergyEvery dollar you put into solar or wind is a dollar not put into traditional financial institutions. You'll also be bolstering the fossil fuel divestment movement, too. Name some companies you know that invest in green energy. How can you support them?
Andrea Haller 4/29/2021 9:15 AMAir BNB; we support this company a few times a year when we travel. Apple, Google, Facebook; we all use these companies daily. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Andrea Haller 4/29/2021 9:13 AMI would like to see composting pick up as part of trash/recycling pick up in the community. the compost could be picked up by community members for a small fee to use in their garden to offset the cost of running the community compost.
