This was a really great challenge and I appreciated the email reminders throughout. Sometimes I was doing the actions and not logging in and sometimes I was forgetting little things I can do and this pushed me to look into more than I already do. Will work on keeping up the habits and thinking more about my actions and purchases.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Support Businesses Owned by Women, BIPOC, or Immigrants
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?

    Emilie Crangle 4/30/2021 2:46 PM
Found some great new women-owned businesses with the links includes and also looked into local businesses to support more actively women-owned businesses. I was excited to see many restaurants I love and visit often included! Just another motivator for me to get more Chinese and Indian food takeout :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings Learn about the Legacy of Redlining
How does city planning and design relate to equity and climate change?

This was really interesting to learn about. I knew there was a huge need for more parks and outdoor recreation for lots of neighborhoods but how far the effects of missing nature is astonishing. Will keep looking into this and donate to some organizations like American Forests who work on solutions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

Living in an older, suburban neighborhood, and having injured my foot recently, I'm noticing even more how much work needs to be done for accessibility and comfort. A lot of streets don't have sidewalks which means you're weaving around parked cars or walking in the middle of the street. Also, a lot of the sidewalks that do exist are warped because of tree roots or lack or maintenance over time. We really need some improvements to make sidewalks easier to walk on and for strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Buildings Research Heat Pumps
Why is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?

Interesting topic and see the benefits especially combining heating/cooling. Unfortunately, renting an older house comes with challenges such as no HVAC systems so will have to work on energy assessments and smaller changes in the meantime.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Practice the 5 R's
What are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?

"Reimagine" along with "Repurpose" - I recycle all I can at home and out in the world but sometimes I jump to recycle/donate to de-clutter without thinking how I could repurpose the item into something different. I've been trying to do more of this this month; ex. old shirts not suitable for donation and scraps into rags
