REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Bren Grove 4/20/2021 8:40 PMI hadn't heard the term until this week but read it in my Drawdown book. Then it came up in two seminars I attended on farming. It is a way to have animals that is not as environmentally damaging and doesn't pit animal ag against environmentalists. It is a way to help the farmer and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Bren Grove 4/17/2021 6:28 PMI have watched Kiss the Ground and Plant Pure nation and others. We eat more because we think it tastes good, we can afford it but don't think of the consequences. I am struggling with that but plan to deliver a presentation at my church tomorrow on the topic of What is on our Plate Matters - to our health and the health of the planet. I am using Drawdown info also with others who are vegetarian for comments. We will mention food waste too. Meat leads to a high environmental impact and isn't necessary for our health except for B12. We need protein but not the amount we typically have. During COVID meat processing plants were a source of severe outbreaks and we didn't treat those employees fairly. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Bren Grove 4/17/2021 6:23 PMI will be less likely to throw away food. After having food poisoning I maybe have been overly careful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Tend A GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Bren Grove 4/10/2021 7:12 AMI was walking in the woods in British Columbia. The high ferns, moss, rivulets and nature all around created a spiritual spot. I sat and reflected , memorized the area and took a short video. Now I visit regularly in my memories. I felt a similar feeling in the jungles of Belize but was with a group so couldn't wait. The native people later told me they too found that area uniquely special. Both areas made me feel connected to all life.
