This eco-challenge has been great! Thanks to this, I've significantly reduced my consumption of meat and my overall consumption of food due to eating in smaller portions.

Electricity Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

A sustainable community would make use of all of its sources and not create waste. For instance, the anaerobic digesters create energy from manure and other wastes. If a community were to use their waste as a source of energy, that would create sustainability. For this to become a reality, more people need to be aware of their renewable energy options and know the benefits so that they could consider switching their energy sources.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

Aside from environmental benefits, eating/serving smaller portions is good for our health. If we overeat, we can gain unnecessary fat, which can become a health risk in the future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

Meat is more expensive since manufacturing it is rather pricey. The animals need to be kept in great condition, and this can be done through antibiotics, for example. Due to meat being pricey to manufacture, richer countries can afford to buy it. Eating more meat, especially red meat, can cause health problems. Consuming more meat can also contribute to global warming since meats release greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. So, consuming less meat can keep us healthy, and it can keep the earth healthy.

By spending more time outdoors, we can grow a connection with our surroundings. By appreciating one's surroundings, we can feel motivated to protect it from pollution and other risks. Nature is beautiful; maintaining its beauty is the least we can do.
