Spending time outdoors and disconnecting is so magical. You really notice how alive our planet is and I feel like it helps me with peace and perspective. Nothing like a breath of fresh air!

I am the worst about using the pitchers at work! I started bringing an extra water bottle to have my caffeinated drinks in. I also want to purchase a reusable straw. I really like to use glass containers instead of plastic bags in my lunch as well :)

I love trees. Having greenery in in my house helps keep me happy, and having a nice yard space with trees helps to give me a calm space to sit and enjoy the sun, and all the animals that come to see. We chose to save 2 trees that a friend was going to remove and throw away, so we took them and replanted them in our yard where they have more space. I'm hoping they do well in their new home!

    Transportation Purchase a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

This year many people, business and corporations have seen just how possible it is to have virtual or non in person meetings and groups. This reduces the amount of travel to large gatherings and functions that are sometimes unnecessary. I learned a lot about the possibilities of carbon offsets, and have chosen a few that fit my desires to offset my carbon use, and align with my passions of land use and natural spaces. I'm still learning about the impact of driving and flying and how to tell when to do each.

    Industry Properly Dispose of Refrigerants
How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

I don't believe stressing about things that I cannot change helps anyone. Instead I focus on making small changes to my lifestyle daily, and I choose to be proactive and thoughtful in my choices and habits. There is always something new to learn, and to teach others about how we can make these small but helpful changes. By focusing on these small impacts I can personally make, I can be pragmatic about the state of the world and our impact on climate change, while keeping a positive outlook.
