Judy McComb 4/12/2021 2:48 PMI am shocked at those results for a place like Seattle. I have come to expect it in NC, where according to many in our state legislature, climate change and the impacts of things like refrigerants are not real, Unless companies like Whole Foods or larger regional grocers adopt these strategies, it is a very hard sell here. Good luck finding such stores on the west coast!

REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow close is the nearest climate-friendly supermarket to your home? How could you encourage local supermarket to reduce or phase out their use of HFC refrigerants?
Kim Mortstock 4/11/2021 2:41 PMHmm, there is only 1 "climate-friendly" supermarket in the entire Seattle area (on Mercer Island) where refrigerants are concerned. But only a small handful where any information is known. Looks like the co-op in my neighborhood is better than some. I will look for refrigerants in my neighborhood store and report back (when I'm back in town). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?
Kim Mortstock 4/05/2021 9:01 PMSince I haven't been in grocery stores much in the last year, I hadn't spent much time thinking about their open refrigerated sections, and associated the energy waste - and far worse, the refrigerant emissions. I just signed several petitions for more eco-conscious stores in my area.
