Combatting Gender Biases

I will share new feeds, videos, and educational material on the definitions of unconscious gender bias and how we can think and act differently. How can you detect if you are using unconscious bias's when working with or hiring others!

If you’re hiring based on ‘gut feeling,’ you’re likely hiring on the basis of unconscious bias. The best way to prevent yourself from succumbing to these unconscious biases is to become aware of them and take action to prevent them when recruiting, hiring and retaining employees. Doing so will help your team build a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

I remember going for walks with my grandpa when I was a young child of 7.  When we would walk he had a stick with a point at the end and he would pick up trash along the way.  I thought then, that is how you take walks.  It was our normal. Unfortunately, as I grew up, I have lost that "normal".  But, I am going to bring that tradition back!  I gotta find a pointy stick!  Who's with me? :)

Especially now that the snow is gone, all the litter from winter is blowing around in the streets. We pick up a bag of trash once a week while walking the dog, hoping to increase that during the EcoChallenge!
