Really happy that this time I was able to challenge myself and successfully follow it
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

    Archana Abhilash's avatar
    Archana Abhilash 4/11/2021 6:56 PM
Hours of labour... we need to take a minute to think of the pain and struggle went through by the farmers in producing goods and products. It’s not something that can be neglected. Before throwing or wasting the food, we need to think of it and appreciate them. We need to take smaller portions and take second time if required other than loading plates with food
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Zero-waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

    Archana Abhilash's avatar
    Archana Abhilash 4/11/2021 6:51 PM
Each part of the vegetable can be used to make different dishes. It always good to experiment and build up a taste after all veggies are good and healthy for all. During this pandemic, who doesn’t care to try out something new.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Archana Abhilash's avatar
    Archana Abhilash 4/11/2021 6:49 PM
We are able to control and know our appetite. In fact it helps to avoid wastage.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Archana Abhilash's avatar
    Archana Abhilash 4/11/2021 6:45 PM
I am able to enjoy my food more taste wise and also Able to concentrate more on food rather than getting distracted.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?

    Archana Abhilash's avatar
    Archana Abhilash 4/11/2021 6:43 PM
I would use it to pay off my education loan and rent
