Another few transportation factors that were influential in my life was carpooling - to school, to sports tournaments, even to friendly outings and dinners. Also, my mother is a big fan of the hybrid car - one time drove from SF to San Diego on one tank of gas (she drove very slowly, but it was fuel-efficient). Unfortunately, lithium batteries do have a certain cost towards our environment, but more implementation of electric public transportation and solar rechargeable batteries could change the way we transport.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating Solutions Research and Advocate for High-Speed RailWhat are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?
Dominike Tambazidis 4/09/2021 11:40 AMLuckily I am in the San Francisco Bay Area so we have an abundance of different means of transportation - one I highly value is Bay Area rapid Transit, or BART, because it reduces the amount of cars on the road. Unfortunately, there is constant battles between wage increases and ride far increases to compensate for the wage increases. On top of that, the maintenance is not so nice because the security entrance system is old and constantly being taken advantage of. If we implemented better means of security and cleanliness, I feel as if more people would be inclined to use this means of transportation.
Dominike Tambazidis 4/08/2021 1:42 PMI chose to join eco-challenge because I know I can be doing more but I didn’t know what - seeing all the small things I can do now, and later when I’m financially stable -implement bigger eco-friendly projects! I want to inspire people to continue these newly learned activities and actions outside of Earth Month! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Tend A GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Dominike Tambazidis 4/07/2021 10:10 AMEver since I was little I have always been fascinated by nature - inspired by my parents who loved going outdoors and always telling us to look up at the trees and look out the window rather than our Nintendo DS'. My appreciation for the different colors of green, style of leaves, patterns of flowers and sizes of trees is something I take appreciation in. I love hugging trees - thinking of the many suns and moons they see, the hot days they endure and rainy days they soak in. I love nature deeply and that is why I would do the most I can to fight for its salvation. -
