I will have to say tracking wasted food has made me more aware of what's in my refrigerator, even the items that get pushed to the back. I didn't throw out much food and I believe it was because I was tracking it. I do know that I will continue to keep track of what I have and what should be eaten "now" by preparing meals that call for food that could possibly go to waste.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

I am guessing people in richer countries eat more meat because they can afford it.
Eating meat can be good for you due to the protein, etc. that comes from it but can also affect your body negatively, too much of certain meats can cause health related problems. One way it affects our planet is, if you think about the companies that has to process it from the beginning (taking from the farm) to the end (selling them in grocery stores), that's lots of travel from vehicles polluting. Also, from all the garbage that goes with it, wrappers, and even leftover bits that don't get eaten.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Healthier eating habits.

An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?
