Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 11:12 PM
The meat is considered as luxurious food in some cultures. Therefore people who cannot afford it more often tend to stick to plant based diet which is more healthy and free from any disease too
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 11:11 PM
The rain water should be preserved and used to tender the garden. The water wastage should be reduced so that excess water is not washed off to the drainage system.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Nutrient Management
How does environmental quality influence your sense of community?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 11:09 PM
Environment quality influence by keeping the surroundings clean and green. The air we breathe in needs to be free from pollution
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 11:08 PM
The motivation comes from saving so many dollars on buying fertilizers when you can prepare natural compost at home. It will be organic without any side effects
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn More about Regenerative Agriculture
Clean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 11:07 PM
Regenerative agriculture means growing the crop, then leaving the land fpr some time to replenish or rotation of crops to keep the nutrients in cycle. This ensures that the nutrients are recycled back to soil so that all the crops grown on that land can benefit
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Tend A Garden
Have you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 11:04 PM
The nature has always impressed me and made me think how during spring season the new leaves come on a tree and how in fall season, all the leaves become yellow and eventually fall off. It is just so amazing to see the plant cycle year round.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 11:03 PM
I feel more relaxed and tend to enjoy food and spices when I am not bothered by distractions. I eat slowly and thank the person internally for preparing delicious meal everyday
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 10:58 PM
Improving bus stop by often cleaning the area around it, making sure there's separate garbage cans for collecting garbage and recycling materials.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    Mandy R's avatar
    Mandy R 4/29/2021 10:56 PM
By making use of public transport such as buses, the air travel can be avoided
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
