REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Practice the 5 R'sWhat are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
Maria Ruiz 4/29/2021 9:20 AMI really need to do a better job of educating my family on how to recycle properly. I find myself having to sort through to make sure the right containers end up in the correct bin. Something I have been doing is asking for paper bags instead of plastic bags when possible. Or making smaller purchases at a time so that I don't need to take a plastic bag and just carry the stuff to my car. I do miss being able to bring reusable bags when grocery shopping. -
Maria Ruiz 4/15/2021 4:36 PMDid not feel like walking today but I went anyways and I feel better. Rewarded myself with some chocolate :)-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Maria Ruiz 4/15/2021 4:21 PMSmaller portions means eating less. When I fill up my plate I feel like I have to eat everything but with smaller portions I realize I actually get full with the amount of food on my plate even if a smaller amount. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Maria Ruiz 4/15/2021 4:17 PMI enjoy my food more and I eat slower. Which is definitely a good thing. I also get full quicker which means I don't end up overeating. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Maria Ruiz 4/08/2021 7:06 AMI've noticed the skunks are definitely out and about. Saw a baby skunk on my walk yesterday and I have been smelling them all over the neighborhood. Otherwise it's been nice to start taking longer walks when the weather is nicer.
