Picking up litter at the beach today and thought I'd share this photo of what happens when a disposable coffee cup most people assume biodegrades is littered. It pretty much turns into a plastic bag. Not biodegradable!

I sowed seeds in my garden that I picked up at the Fairhaven Seed Exchange outside the Millicent Library. I encourage other Fairhaven gardeners to stop by to pick up some seeds and leave some for others too!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Practice the 5 R's
What are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?

Another way to reduce waste besides refusing, reducing, and recycling is not replacing items before their life is over. How many times have we purchased new things when the ones we have at home are perfectly useful. When is the last time you really "wore something out?" Less material consumption = less waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

I had never heard of "silvopasture" before, but like most traditional farming methods (such as no-till, organic, and practicing crop rotation) it is not only better for the land and the planet, but also has many advantages for the farmer and the local food supply.
