All Drawdown Solutions

I will calculate the greenhouse gas emissions associated with my household and consider how different lifestyle choices could reduce my negative impact on the environment.

Recycle Everything I Can

Recycling

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Zero-waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

This is really hard when going into the office, due to covid everything is prepackaged and single use, so the emphasis is on cooking food at home, generally fresh veggies that don't require packaging
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Calculate My Carbon Footprint
What stood out to you most about your carbon footprint? What surprised you or sparked curiosity? Where can you take most immediate action?

It's really hard to approximate living in a share house, and air travel is quite meaningless at the moment, but I definitely do need to generally be more conscious about where I source things like utilities and food, instead of going for the easiest/cheapest by default
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

A sustainable community primarily needs community first, instead of being a collection of people, shared ethos and goals is critical to creating a space where growth and change can happen. I would love to see a community with a circular economy of sorts, where resources are shared and taken care of, where custodianship is prioritised over ownership.

Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

Walking through the city, there are so many cars and bike/pedestrian infrastructure is definitely not a priority, dedicated pedestrian lanes/streets would be lovely
