  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/26/2021 1:59 PM
My transportation choices affect my engagement in my community because driving less, and biking or walking more, means I will be more in touch with my community. I biked and walked with my friend so it was enjoyable.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/26/2021 1:58 PM
Since the demand for eating meat has increased, more land is needed for industrial agriculture, which results in deforestation. I have been between vegetarian and vegan for the past 5 years, which helps not contribute to the demand of meat.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Spread the Word about Energy Alternatives
What inspiration and wisdom can you gather from your family, faith, or community traditions that would help you in both communicating about and addressing our most pressing energy issues?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/21/2021 12:59 PM
The inspiration I have gathered from my family is how extremely important it is to address climate change and energy issues. Especially with my younger family members, because we want to make the world a better place for them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/21/2021 12:40 PM
I have noticed that there is sadly a lot of litter on the street. I have enjoyed seeing nature, and different parts of the state.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/12/2021 4:35 PM
I incorporate the other "R"s into my lifestyle everyday. For repurpose, I always try to find purposes for items that are no longer in use. For reduce, I have reduced the amount of plastic I use. For repair, I always try to fix something before throwing it out. Using the 5 R's makes me much more aware of my choices.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Industry Document single use plastic for 1 weeks
What is your reaction to your plastic usage?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/12/2021 4:33 PM
After documenting my plastic usage for a week straight, I was pleased about the low amount I have used. My water bottle is reusable, I use reusable bags at the grocery store, and I always refuse plastic bags when I go to the store. It felt great to know I was helping the problem, not contributing to it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/07/2021 5:03 PM
I changed my lightbulbs today, to LED Bulbs! Next, I will be trying to convince my entire family to change the lightbulbs in the house to LED Bulbs.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Industry Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/05/2021 9:47 PM
Fast fashion has become so popular throughout our generation, and sadly, it is bad for the environment. While sometimes it can be a little tricky, going to thrift stores can help decrease fast fashion rapidly. Thrifting has become very popular in 2021, and hopefully we can decrease the amount of fast fashion!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    Abigail Resendes's avatar
    Abigail Resendes 4/05/2021 9:42 PM
I am a very big advocate for reusable items. For example, I always have my reusable water bottle with me. I try to decrease the single-use items in my life, but sometimes I end up using them. I use plastic bags (Stop and Shop, CVS) more than I should. On the bright side, I have cut down the use of these greatly and have switched over to reusable bags.
