REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Ainsley R 4/23/2021 3:21 PMAdvocating for the conservation and restoration of peatland can be done by raising awareness, creating discussion, petitions and putting pressure on government officials. In one of the videos I watched about peatland they were discussing government-run programs that protected and restored drained peatland. Advocating for peatland is so important since it sequesters so much carbon. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Calculate My Carbon FootprintWhat stood out to you most about your carbon footprint? What surprised you or sparked curiosity? Where can you take most immediate action?
Ainsley R 4/23/2021 2:53 PMI was surprised at how much food contributed to my carbon footprint (it was my second-highest category). I assume that this is because of the meat and animal by-products in my diet. I can reduce my carbon footprint by eating more vegetarian and vegan meals.
