Simple task, but one that gives a better picture of singular impact from individuals. It puts into perspective just how simple actions can have an impact on the environment. Learn it and take action from there

How does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

I continue to push for this to take place in buildings around my alma mater and high school. I feel schools are a great space to continue to push green energy initiatives as it teaches folks at an optimal time for learning and provides clear proof if impact at an age that people retain this information more meaningfully
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Research and Advocate for High-Speed Rail
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?

This is a complicated situation. High speed rail, and better railway infrastructure is incredibly intriguing to me, but the reality of it taking hold in a way that can make significant impact in the US is a challenge that may not be surmountable. Other nations built up from the start of the rail boom and kept investing. The US determined cars and interstates were the focus and let the rail infrastructure rot, I would love to see regional sections of the US build this up and then connect as it begins to take hold, if it can. I for one would love it.

Climate work goes beyond just caring for the environment and forests, bodies of water, etc... But requires serious work into reinvesting into disenfranchised and damaged communities. Numerous communities that have historically been marginalized and cast off for practices that actually had major positive impact on the environment. Work goes beyond just reducing carbon footprints, but engaging with communities who have been working towards this, possibly without that being the main goal, for hundreds of years prior.
