REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Sarah McGrath 4/20/2021 6:19 PMI have found that eating mindful has helped me make more attuned decisions about how much I eat. Many studies have shown that eating mindfully helps reduce emotional eating, eating in response to visual cues in the absence of hunger and binge eating. -
Sarah McGrath 4/18/2021 5:37 PMIn the 3662 tonnes of food waste, 65% (around 2380 tonnes) are domestic food waste from households. Hong Kong has low recycling rate for food waste, as stated at the report of EPD in 2019, about 14.6 thousand tonnes of food waste were recycled, which, by calculation, is about 1% of total food waste produced in Hong Kong.
During the month of April, I have consciously reduced the amount of food waste by cooking batches of food which last for both my dinner & lunch. In the future, I will make a conscious effort to continue with this mindset to help decrease the amount of food waste in HK. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Zero-waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Sarah McGrath 4/18/2021 5:34 PMOver the weekend, I made plant based meals which included minimal waste from all the vege I used...every little helps! -
