Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Tend A Garden
I will tend to a garden, or prepare for one, each day using sustainable gardening practices.
Action Track: Climate Resilience
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 10 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
ZOE MALONE 4/09/2021 11:50 AMI've learned about the negative impact mass production of crops and cattle have, and the inhumane ways the animals are treated. I wanted to know where my food comes from, and I'm working towards it. I haven't been to farmer's markets yet, but my stepdad and I have been raising two steers this past year and hopefully they'll be the source of our meat for a year or two come this fall. We've been setting up a chicken coop to raise laying chickens so we have fresh eggs. We also started some seedlings a few weeks ago, mostly herbs and vegetables. There are also a few pumpkins and other squash/gourds.-
