REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Sue Kane 4/30/2021 9:49 PMI have already been working on eliminating palm oil and I have cut way back on meat. I love chocolate, but fortunately don't eat a huge amount of it. My 1 cup of coffee in the morning seems to be my biggest downfall. I will now be on the lookout for "shade produced" coffee.
I pray we can seriously halt the deforestation that is going on around the world. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Sue Kane 4/30/2021 9:26 PMI have noticed: bees humming in a tree, so many different kinds of plants, animals, flowers and their wonderful smells and many of God's miracles. We could use more sidewalks in our area. -
Sue Kane 4/30/2021 9:22 PMThanks for this opportunity. Sorry I was a late bloomer. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Research Barriers to Participation and RepresentationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Sue Kane 4/30/2021 9:20 PMI believe poverty is the greatest a barrier to equality; poverty is deeply connected to lack of education and teen pregnancies. Fortunately we have a number of strong women in our community and a number of agencies that try to remedy the situations.
Knowing what a challenge it is in my community, I cannot fathom what it must like for those in other countries. -
Sue Kane 4/27/2021 9:19 PMI started slow, but today I got inspired! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Advocate For Greener VehiclesHow does advocating for green vehicles in your community connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to fuel-efficient vehicles?
Sue Kane 4/27/2021 9:17 PMI live in a community that was one of the first in the country to have electric bus public transportation - it is GREAT. My husband and I both have electric cars and I sent lots of emails to legislators in my state to increase sales for EV infrastructure and clean cars by 2030. I now need to advocate for Electric School busses. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Sue Kane 4/27/2021 9:13 PM
I often like to shop at Grocery Outlet and some of their food is past the "sell by" date - Glad to know it is still safe. I like a good sale item! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Sue Kane 4/27/2021 8:52 PMThis was very encouraging! I like the idea of the methane being in a closed loop, I understand that the negative part of methane gas is the leakage that occurs when it is mined and transferred from place to place.
My husband is using compost from table scraps from Seattle.
