"Astronauts have pointed out the very thin blue line of atmosphere surrounding Earth - the only thing that protects us from the vast vacuum of space. There is no Planet B. I will reduce my carbon footprint and support others in doing the same."

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Communicate With My Elected OfficialsWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Tricia Jones 4/29/2021 10:09 PMGoogle "who represents me" and write your Congressman and Senators - support sustainable energy - and also support stopping subsidies for animal agribusiness and commercial fishing. It is so easy to be heard. BTW - TX is the leader of wind and solar energy production - supporting it means jobs and a strong economy!! -
Tricia Jones 4/29/2021 10:06 PMCommitting to a plant forward diet. The biggest lesson I learned this Earth Month was that one of the largest contributions we can make is to reduce the demand for the industrial animal production on land and commercial fishing at sea. I hope to live and eat much more sustainably going forward! -
Tricia Jones 4/29/2021 9:59 PMWooooot Woooot! Congrats to everyone for finishing the challenge!! -
Tricia Jones 4/27/2021 9:36 AMLooking at my indoor garden experiments - concluding that hydroponics (water + fertilizer) are better than aquaponics (goldfish in water) for tomatoes and basil. My peppers (in soil) are dying shortly after flowering. Anyone have tips for growing - OR FOR THE SMALL BUGS??? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Explore Other Electricity SolutionsWhat is the most exciting solution you explored? Why is it exciting to you?
Tricia Jones 4/23/2021 8:30 AMOMG - I've been with TXU since I can remember. While I've seen a few adds for other providers, I had no idea just how many there are in TX. Safe to say there will be fewer after the freeze. Good news is that there are several plans at different larger companies offer renewable energy plans. Did you know TEXAS LEADS THE NATION in WIND and SOLAR power generation? Sad that our politicians are so beholden to Big Oil campaign contributions! -
Tricia Jones 4/23/2021 8:26 AMGreat Earth Week program yesterday with Texas Conservation Alliance (recording should be available for MSA in next week or so) and REALLY looking forward to today's Earth Week Source your SIP Happy Hour. SIP = Sustainability in Production. Nice way to end Earth Week!! -
Tricia Jones 4/21/2021 8:09 AMI definitely think finding meatless meals is a lot easier than I realized! Will continue to do 1 or 2 vegetarian or vegan meals daily - and continue to walk daily as well!!-
Liz Zavodsky (EcoChallenge Staff) 4/21/2021 8:57 AMThat's awesome to read!

REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Tricia Jones 4/14/2021 2:18 PMSeafood Watch is an arm of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I downloaded the guide for sustainable seafood consumer guide - Wow! This changes my whole perspective about deep water and farmed fish. I will ask more questions and read source labels more carefully going forward. Having the site on my phone will help when shopping! -
Tricia Jones 4/14/2021 12:07 PMGoogle "Who represents me" to get the names/sites of your elected officials. Go to Powering Texas - Supporting Wind Energy in Texas for information about renewable energy and how Texas is leading the nation in Wind power. -
Tricia Jones 4/10/2021 4:59 PMBeautiful day! Lovely walk, windows open at home - fresh air.
