Started updating a spot in my front yard yesterday. Getting rid of the old railroad ties that old owners put in as a border years ago. also getting rid of tons of rock, and adding in more plants, as well as trying cover crop instead of grass. Going to do a mixture of oats and peas. Excited to see how it looks, and also if the soil improves in that area.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Clean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?

Using regenerative ag practices we can improve the soil health, make the area better for plants and animals to thrive in, and reduce waste! I have really enjoyed reading Dirt to Soil by Gabe Brown, a farmer from South Dakota, who came upon regenerative ag due to 2 years of his crops being decimated by hail. He didn't have the money to clean up all of the crops that had been knocked down, so he left them, and continued to plant on top of them. His soil started to improve. He cut chemicals, introduced more cover crops, and animal grazing, and his farm is such a different and better place now!
