Emma's actions
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 25 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Land Sinks
Explore My Area
Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 60 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Land Sinks
Plant Trees
Temperate Forest Restoration
I will plant 5 tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Land Sinks
Support a Community Garden
Multiple Solutions
I will support a community garden by volunteering, donating, or advocating for a new or existing one.
Land Sinks
Buy Bamboo
Bamboo Production
When they are available, I will purchase products made from bamboo instead of wood, plastic, or metal.
Land Sinks
Forest-Friendly Foods 1
Tropical Forest Restoration
I will spend at least 15 minutes researching the impact of my diet to see how it contributes to deforestation.
Health and Education
Help Students Overcome Health Barriers
Health and Education
I will donate 3 Femme Kit(s) to help people who menstruate overcome health and sanitation barriers to being able to attend school.
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
Conduct Virtual Meetings
Telepresence
I will encourage my office to hold meetings virtually whenever possible instead of requiring travel.
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
Support Indigenous Peoples' Land Management
Indigenous Peoples' Forest Tenure
I will donate to Native American Rights Fund, which protects tribal natural resources and environmental rights and promotes Native American Human Rights.
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
Advocate For More Packaging Options
Multiple Industry Solutions
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions
Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
Onshore Wind Turbines, Utility-Scale Solar Photovoltaics
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option. If my utility does not offer one, I will purchase Renewable Energy Credits to match my usage.
Transportation
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 45 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Transportation
Go by Bike
Bicycle Infrastructure
I will commute by bike 2 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Emma Howe 4/12/2021 7:21 AMHappy Monday Boston Green Team Ecochallenge participants,We are now going strong in this year's Earth Month Ecochallenge! As a whole, Deloitte has 608 people signed up with 34,000 pts and 2256 individual actions completed, which is simply incredible.
Remember to check the “impact tab” on the Ecochallenge website to see our team’s individual impact or the impact of all Deloitte teams. Sharing those numbers can really help see the direct impact we are making. As we're nearing the midpoint for the challenge, I wanted to share a few tips for how to keep engaged + motivated:1. Forget to log your actions? You are able to click on the previous days and add the you actions you have completed!2. Did you forget to even do any actions? Set a reminder on your phone or outlook calendar to notify you. You can set a reminder to log your action items or to set some time aside to complete a few.3. Out of sight, out of mind! Add the Eco-challenge to your home screen on your phone! Follow this link to learn how:https://ecochallenge.org/media/documents/EC-AddToHome-Tutorial.pdf
Keep up the hard work and inspiring others to take action as well :)
Best,
Emma -
Emma Howe 3/30/2021 6:33 AMHi Boston office team members! I'm so excited to be your Ecochallenge captain this Earth Month alongside Hannah Goldberg. Hannah and I encourage you all to take action on 80 of the most substantive solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and slow climate change. Each action you take will give you points, and the more points you rack up, the better chance you'll have to win a prize. A prize you say? Yes, you heard me right! The Boston Green Team will be sponsoring prizes for the top 3 winners, first prize will be a $200 gift card to Patagonia, second will be a $100 gift card to REI, and third will be a $50 gift card to Package Free Shop.
