I am so happy to be a part of this challenge, which really wasn't a challenge but...so important and inspirational to me!  It made me realize my part in wasting our Earth's resources and what I can do to contribute to saving and helping our Earth!  Very enlightening!!!

I am really working on reducing food waste.  I have documented my waste and have started purchasing less food; watching unnecessary items that I am buying.  I started a meal plan for the week so that I am only buying the necessary items that I need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

All of the above motivates me to change my behavior, being wasteful is just not acceptable any longer for me, I admit we take things for granted and we do what is comfortable or easiest for us.  I have been reading so much and learning more that it truly opened my eyes to all the "waste and devastation" to our planet, and not just the waste before our eyes like wasting my own money.  I truly care about hunger and have been supportive of this but not really thinking about how much more I can actually do to stop hunger and help Earth on a much larger scale.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?

Donate the money to organizations who support those in need and that support restoring our Earth/Agricultural Regeneration.

Each of us need to do more than we are already doing.  We really need to push towards solar and wind power, not just talk about it but take action.

Do you mean more in terms of individual action or in terms of direct action to push for societal changes?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

    Jacquelin Fielding's avatar

Saving our money as well as the money spent from supplier down to our pockets. We are able to feed more people; less waste all around.  Smaller portions helps with overeating and health issues. It is a much smarter choice, all around!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

    Jacquelin Fielding's avatar
    Jacquelin Fielding 4/05/2021 9:35 AM
Purchasing less items that are truly "material stuff" because these items are unnecessary, and usually end of in our landfills.

Very excited to work on all these Earth saving important issues!  I have been reading a lot!  I started donating extra food that I purchased too much of during Easter to people who do not have the money; this really made me feel good and prevents food waste!!!
