Transportation Express My Support For Equitable Biking Infrastructure
What do you like most about biking in your city? What would you like to improve?

    Eric Fialkovich 4/26/2021 7:44 AM
I like being able to bike to friend's houses and restaurants so that I can get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. I would like to feel safer on the streets and have more alternatives to sharing roads with cars (like taking a path thru the park or having dedicated bike trails / lanes)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions Express My Support For Walkable Cities
How could better walking infrastructure make your city both more enjoyable and more equitable?

    Eric Fialkovich's avatar

Better walking infrastructure can reduce the need for cars and also help create scenic areas that more people can stop to enjoy instead of worrying about parking and accessibility.

Why is it important to protect wetlands?

Besides preserving the unique wildlife that lives there, it has benefits for us too. Wetlands can help control flooding and act as a carbon sink.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions Research and Advocate for High-Speed Rail
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?

    Eric Fialkovich's avatar
    Eric Fialkovich 4/26/2021 7:35 AM
Convenience may be the #1 factor. Also safety when it comes to riding my bike. I would need warmer weather and a safer route to work to feel comfortable biking more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions Advocate for Solar Installation
How does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

    Eric Fialkovich's avatar
    Eric Fialkovich 4/26/2021 7:34 AM
I want clean air. Maybe eventually the cost of clean energy will be cheaper than dirty. If you factor in our health, I think it already is cheaper.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions Advocate For More Packaging Options
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Eric Fialkovich 4/26/2021 7:05 AM
I am concerned that we will never be able to transition away from single-use plastics. Especially in medicine and research.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Accelerating Solutions Advocate For Greener Vehicles
How does advocating for green vehicles in your community connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to fuel-efficient vehicles?

    Eric Fialkovich's avatar
    Eric Fialkovich 4/26/2021 7:03 AM
I want a cleaner world with a car that is fuel-efficient. However, I think I should use my current car until it dies. That way it doesn't end up in a landfill until it absolutely needs to be or we have the technology to recycle it.

I joined the challenge to educate myself about our planet. I am trying to make improvements to my lifestyle and share this knowledge with others.

    Eric Fialkovich 4/26/2021 6:46 AM
I have worked a few times picking peaches and apples and peppers on a friend's farm. It is hard work that doesn't pay well. But it is fulfilling.
