REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Accelerating Solutions Advocate For More Packaging OptionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Stephanie Del Rosario 4/06/2021 3:55 PMIn the U.S., we throw away about 100 billion plastic bags a year. That's a lot of bags! And only 1-3% of those bags are recycled. I think using a reusable bag is one of the easiest ways to say no to single-use plastics. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Stephanie Del Rosario 4/02/2021 5:24 PMI grew up in a household where very little food was wasted. I try to be conscious of this every time I shop and prepare meals. The 'best by,' 'sell by' or 'use by' terms refer to quality standards made by the manufacturer. They aren't linked to safety for foods. Manufacturers use food labels to show when the product is at its peak for best flavor. A 'sell by' date tells the retailer how long to display the product, and a 'use by' date is the final date the consumer can use the item while it's at peak quality.
