By building affordable housing and adding more green life and sidewalks.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

If everyone donated a little bit it could make a huge difference like a 1-5$ investment from millions of people would add up.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Sarah Clark 4/28/2021 10:59 AM
People would need to commit to making a difference nothing will happen if we have people that are refusing to change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Electricity Learn More about Biomass
Had you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!

I had not heard of biomass technology before and I learned about the difference it could make for our environment. I was surprised to hear that it could transform fossil fuel to 100% clean renewable energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Sarah Clark's avatar
    Sarah Clark 4/26/2021 8:41 AM
85 percent of the world’s peatlands are intact.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Bioplastics
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Sarah Clark 4/22/2021 8:23 AM
Definitely our energy use and waste I know how much of those resources we use and people refuse to change what they are putting out.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Sinks Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Sarah Clark's avatar
    Sarah Clark 4/20/2021 9:51 AM
I think more about the effect of what I buy and the seriousness of the issues. The food information was a bit scary with the food poisoning it's scary to think about because that could happen to anyone and nobody is doing anything. I think we are making progress on energy saving and planting more plants and trees.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Sarah Clark's avatar
    Sarah Clark 4/19/2021 9:58 AM
My diet is contributing to the meat and dairy deforestation. I don't eat too much meat but it is still contributing. I could look at having a vegetarian meal more often.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Sinks Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Sarah Clark's avatar
    Sarah Clark 4/16/2021 8:17 AM
I had not heard about silvopasture until now. I think the biggest advantage of silvopasture is sustainability. Using this system keeps everything going even when there is drought.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

I usually take them pretty seriously. I'm glad I learned about the diffrent vocabulary though I didn't know some of the term meanings.
