  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Sinks Contact your Elected Officials
Do you have any personal connections to a farm or farmland? If so, what are they? What feelings are evoked for you when thinking about declining farmland?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:56 PM
I have personal connections to a farm. Family has owned a farm and raised several horses, sheep, and goats. Thinking about the declining farmland now will reduce their only income to survive given circumstances of providing to feed people.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Host a Film Screening
Thank you for raising awareness of women's and gender equality issues. What is the next step to actually address this disparity?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:53 PM
A step to address the disparity is to have more empowerment. In my region is to mitigate violence that includes domestic violence, gender based violence, and sexual violence. Another example is to empower them by uniting and evaluate values to public without fear.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Learn about the Need for Family Planning
What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:45 PM
In my community, there is a high rate of teen pregnancy. There is certainly no promotion of education of the matter especially in low income communities. Comparing with higher income communities, there is more education of family planning which facilitates the process and are more aware of decisions for starting a family than counterparts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Connect With A Nonprofit
What are the most pressing issues for women, girls, and trans/nonbinary people in your community?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:41 PM
One of the most pressing issues for women, girls, and trans/nonbinary people in my community is violence. There is increased amount of sexual violence in my community.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Buy Bamboo
Are bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:38 PM
Bamboo alternatives are not readily available in my community.  bamboos are invasive though here. An example of sustainable alternatives is that I can do is to guide family to eliminate unwarted plastic usage.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:29 PM
Planting trees is good for mental health since it distracts me from negative thoughts. It is good to get some form of exercise since there is labor put into planting trees. On my spiritual health, I feel connected with the trees and how they are there to provide shade which is heart warming.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:26 PM
My diet is currently impacting deforestation on animal habitats. Some animals are dependent of trees which can reduce diversity (e.g. genetic). It also affects other countries that use the land for the sake of agriculture to increase their profit only. An example to decrease negative impact that is in my current control is to reduce meat consumption. Other includes dairy which I don't like anyways. Increasing the positive impact is reduce amount of meat produced from cows especially in USA. This can lead to less water usage to the livestock since they may not produce as many overall reducing methane emissions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 2
How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:16 PM
It was somewhat surprising that palm oil is a major ingredient in common food and products. Usually these in foods is a saturated fat which I try to consume less of. Changing diet slightly was moderately difficult due some culture foods that are always eaten by family. The most difficult was consuming less cookies.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:09 PM
Spending more time outdoors has reduced negative thoughts and depression in the past. I have an appreciation of the scenery when I go out to trails and enjoy landscapes. This is a time for me to reflect and learn more about nature by observing animals and plants.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Buildings Upgrade My Windows
How does improving your home's (or office's) energy efficiency help you better live out your values?

    Jennifer Celestino's avatar
    Jennifer Celestino 4/30/2021 11:02 PM
Improving one's home or office energy efficiency help live out values because it will reduce energy. Some examples is using compact fluorescent light or light emitting diode bulbs. These will reduce energy usage and will not make one feel guilty for using more energy for light needed.
