David Burman 4/17/2021 6:33 PMMy contact with elected reps wasn't this month - well I did send several petitions and added a personal note to Arif Verani about his phony town halls when he was first elected. And I gave him the Drawdown book a couple years ago that he didn't read. Last I met with him I protested the Trans Mountain and LNG pipelines. When he said it was clean energy I told him he was talking like a cancer cell. I also had a great meeting with my MPP Bhutilla Karpoche who was really excited by the book and promised to take it to Queen's Park. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
David Burman 4/17/2021 6:27 PMwhile subway travel is perfectly safe, with 1/3 to 1/2 capacity at any time, I still like to ride my bike. As for my 20 year old car - it basically lives in the driveway. Only use it to go on hikes or holidays - or places not accessible by transit. Still, when it dies I will likely not replace it. I hope that soon I'll be able to rent an electric car when I need it. I think I pay more in annual insurance than the car is worth! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Restore WetlandsHow do wetlands differ from other ecosystems -- both in the services they offer and in your personal experience of them?
David Burman 4/12/2021 6:24 AMNeed constamt attention to stop development on Duffin's Creek. It seems the renaturalization of the mourh of rhe Don is going ahead and the Humber Marsh is healthy as well as Windigo Creek and Catfish Pond. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
David Burman 4/12/2021 6:17 AMI havent done anything radical but always look at where it comes from at the green grocer and buy Ontario whenwvwr possible. -
David Burman 4/08/2021 7:43 PMSince I'm pretty much homebound most of my shopping is by bike or foot. Once weekly take a car to walks along the lake about 10km. Food waste - almost none - compost everything but bones. Happy to be planting my veg garden. Lots of peas. Hope they sprout!-
Andrea Stephens 4/10/2021 6:06 PMI tried beans last year, but haven't tried peas - are they easy to grow? What variety is your favourite?
