Transportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

To reserve our resources and stop using everything up just because it's abundant and accessible.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

We eat more in the US because we equate our level of success with the amount of excess we acquire. Therefore, you eat more, you waste more, you acquire more houses, cars, stuff, the more successful you are.

Eating more meat means there's a greater need to produce more. Then more chemicals are needed and these chemicals cause all of these medical issues that we see in the states. i.e. diabetes, fibroids, high blood pressure and the likes.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

I always want to prioritize helping others over material stuff. I was recently driving from picking up lunch and it was a very cold day. I drove by this man that looked like he was freezing cold. I stopped asked him if he needed a sweater (I only had one sweater with me and I LOVED this sweater) he said yes and asked if could get him something to eat. I wanted to get back home and eat but I gave him my beloved sweater. Then got him some lunch and that's the kind of person I wish to always be and encourage other to strive to be.

    Industry Choose Recycled Paper
Good job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?

Since COVID-19 as a culture companies are utilizing Zooms and Team calls. This action alone is cutting back tremendously on the use of paper products. But we all still receive paper mail, even if we're completely paperless. I use these items to take notes, if needed. I also use them as napkins when I have a spill of some sort.

It's amazing how small you feel at the beginning of this challenge when it comes to making significant change in the grand scheme of things. But when you start reading the challenges and reflecting on how many things you take for granted, you discover you're more powerful and necessary in this fight than you ever could imagine. Wow!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?

I'd absolutely much rather use this money on investing in a nonprofit foundation one day.

What really surprised me was the impact of my trips abroad. I didn't think there was that much of an impact because I fly commercial. I can make the most impact in my local commuting. I plan to ride my bike and take the train as much as I can.
