I read this morning that 51% of survey respondents in the US would be willing to buy an electric vehicle, up from 34% just a year ago (Oliver Wyman Forum as published in the Wall Street Journal 4/24/21).  Impressive gains, but still the lowest figure among the other countries listed, including China (92%), Italy (78%) and the UK (54%).

I was very encouraged by President Biden's bold promise to cut emissions by at least 50% from 2005 levels by 2030.  Nice to have presidential leadership on climate again.

We live a 20 minute walk from Wegmans.  I've been experimenting with how to incorporate such a great resource into my routine.  I'm learning to buy a small enough amount of groceries to carry home.  Haven't quite figured it all out yet, but working on it.

I feel fortunate to have a grocery store within walking distance.  Great way to combine exercise with picking up some food.  I need to make this more a part of my routine.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

Eating smaller portions can stretch the available food out to feed more people so fewer people will be hungry.
