It's been lots of fun doing this challenge with you all!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

I wish the walking trails were less prone to the muddy runoff on the sidewalks, my area doesn't usually do much to keep the erosion from the hills around them and then running across the trail making it difficult to get through, especially with a baby stroller.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Penni Beall's avatar

Riding a bike or walking is much more enjoyable and engaging.  I tend to say hello to more neighbors if I am walking or riding a bicycle.

Concrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but its carbon footprint may not be obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?

the jets that celebrities use to run them around in.  Paying money to some organizations does not absolve them of the effects of using them.  They should airplane pool.

I had not heard of this as Biomass, I had heard of gasifiers.  What surprised me was that they were missing in the plastic to the pellets and not addressing the toxic fumes that come from burning most types of plastic.  They may have a way of cleaning those out of the exhaust, but I did not hear any such plan in the videos that I watched on it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Climate Resilience Local Perennial Biomass
Climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe states that "The reason we care about climate change is because it affects the people and places that we care about." What is happening (or will happen) in your area that will affect the people and places you care about?

They are trying to use water treatment waste to create fertilizer for gardens.  I have heard bad things about using Hu-manure or "night soil", so I do not think I will be using the municipal compost.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

Ask Office Depot to list all recycled paper products first in their online stores and weight them to come up first online when someone searches for paper products.
