Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

What I have learned most from this challenge is that I can be green in so many small ways that have a significant impact - picking up trash, not littering, volunteering at my local community garden, walking instead of driving when possible. And the best part if that I made my kids apart of it so they can learn these habits for their own
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

With my daily walks I notice that it reduces my stress, helps me stay in shape and calms me for the rest of the day
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

I find that using modes of transportation such as bicycles  or scooters produce a much smaller impact on the environment and actually help me keep in great shape. Its a win win situation
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

I want to switch to a electric car so I can provide a great example for my children. Their clean and safe future are priceless

I chose to participate in this challenge because I want my children to live in a cleaner, safer environment. They are my reason why.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

We can push our local government representatives to make sure that we have energy efficient busses running in our neighborhoods. And also provide feedback to the MTA directly with thoughts, suggestions or ideas on ways they can continue reducing their carbon footprint. Encourage your friends and family to do the same. We have a bigger voice in numbers.
