Andrea Ammerman 4/30/2021 9:25 PMMostly done. I have 4 areas in my back yard and two in my front yard. Attached are two images :) one is the before, well actually it was all covered with weeds and I took those out. Used a pickaxe and turned over the soil. Then added soil amendments (earth worm casings, peat moss, enriched topsoil) then leveled the whole thing and finally did the planting. The backyard also has a succulent section, a water feature with some flowers (not in the picture) and some yellow and pink snap dragons. The yellow over wintered and the pink I planted today! -
Andrea Ammerman 4/29/2021 12:06 PMFinal planting and organizing will happen over the next two days. -
Andrea Ammerman 4/28/2021 10:16 PMI planted a native bush that attracts both bees and hummingbirds! Later I'll probably plant a Manzanita tree
-
Andrea Ammerman 4/27/2021 6:45 PMIt's water day and pea and bean planting. We got a lot of wind and the big oak tree in our backyard pushed the leaves, yet again, into the wells I made around my veggies. Arugh I have to clean that out. -
Andrea Ammerman 4/26/2021 3:12 PMI'm almost done with my garden. Yesterday I was trimming a tree that was shading my Orange and Apricot tree and found what I thought was a "gall" on a branch. Usually it's a parasitic wasp that lays it's egg in a leaf or twig. My landscape architecture college student informed me it was a Praying Mantis Egg sack! We used string to reattach it to a branch on our Orange tree! -
Andrea Ammerman 4/23/2021 6:03 PMRealized that I bought bush beans instead of pole beans. So i have now planted POLE Beans around my tomato plant cages! -
Andrea Ammerman 4/22/2021 3:44 PMIt's earth day. While my garden needs some maintenance like re-creating wells around the plants... how can I not plant something! -
Andrea Ammerman 4/21/2021 2:13 PMAlmost done with planting some flowers. I'm still waiting for cel pack snapdragons to come to the local nursery. I also have some peas and beans to plant around my tomatoes. They can vine-up the tomato cage and help out with the nitrogen since tomato's zap so much N2 from the soil! -
Andrea Ammerman 4/21/2021 12:50 PMPlanted some more cucumbers because two got a little trampled from the dog. Trying to figure out how to put up a temporary fence. -
Andrea Ammerman 4/19/2021 8:34 AMFound the best vegie cages for my squash! Only 19 inches tall but made from coated steal and they were easy to put in the ground. I'm hopeful that the dog won't relieve herself or dig the out!!!!
