REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Katherine Adye 4/30/2021 9:53 AMBefore this challenge I had not heard of silvopasture. I think the biggest advantage of it is that it's a more efficient way of using space. You can get several products out of the same area of land, and those products can be higher quality as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Katherine Adye 4/30/2021 8:09 AMBefore the challenge I always had some sort of distraction during meal times. It was a difficult switch at first but I got used to it fairly quickly. By eating mindfully I actually pay attention to the food in front of me and I'm more appreciative of the effort and ingredients that went into the meal. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. How would you rather use this money?
Katherine Adye 4/30/2021 8:03 AMInstead of spending money on food that is going to be thrown out I would rather spend it on better quality ingredients and more unusual ingredients so I can try new recipes, especially those from other cultures.-
Rebeca Barrios-Torres 4/30/2021 8:19 AMYes, buying less food leaves room for better ingredients. I have begun buying organic in some instances, where I have not before because of cost
