Fatema Adamji 4/30/2021 7:08 PMIt will ensure I check foods for spoilage before I decide to throw it out and not assume food cannot be had because it is past the use by, sell by or best by dates since these are just measures of quality -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More about BiomassHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Fatema Adamji 4/30/2021 6:46 PMI had heard about biomass energy but not researched it in depth. I found it so interesting how human waste also factors into this solution and how yet again the example of Kenya is used! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Climate Resilience Tend A GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Fatema Adamji 4/22/2021 8:52 AMGrowing up in Kenya, I was always surrounded by such interesting natural scenes but a significant experience I can recall is my hike into a forest in Rwanda to see gorillas. It really put into perspective for me the simplicity of life for some beings and how beautiful forest life can be. I learned how much I love greenery and plants on that hike.-
Colleen Cox-Snee 4/22/2021 11:58 AMI visted Rwanda two years ago, my last trip before the pandamic. The majesty of those aniimals, and the diversity of life in Rwanda was eyeopening.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Fatema Adamji 4/22/2021 8:49 AMBeing outdoors allows us to experience things we are closed off from when we're inside. There are so many sounds, sights and feelings experiences from stepping outside. It's as simple as hearing the birds or feeling a fresh cool breeze after a few days indoors that make me smile and appreciate my life and my experiences. -

Fatema Adamji 4/14/2021 1:23 PMI learned about some cool initiatives some cities are undertaking to improve infrastructure such as installing LED street lighting. I also learned about the use of refrigerants in buildings that are GHGs. There's more than just retrofits that can be done to improve a building to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Fatema Adamji 4/12/2021 2:01 PMHaving smaller servings of food would impact our physical and mental health and assist with digestive issues, help us remain active and less lethargic and groggy and also would help reduce obesity. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Choose Recycled PaperGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Fatema Adamji 4/09/2021 12:54 PMI often choose recycled paper for note taking. I could definitely try to switch to methods that create even less waste such as virtual note taking or erasable ink.
