Hi Dennis, I cut out an article about anaerobic digesters but haven’t read it carefully yet. At first glance it seemed to say we need it because some people aren’t separating their garbage correctly!? It seems a big solution for that problem!

It rained all day today and I had a lot of other commitments.

So thankful for God’s good Creation. Want to care for it - and for all creatures - those like me and those not like me.

Locally, my municipal gov't has 5 female councillors and 4 male. While this is good to see, if you look at the council photo, the 4 males are in the centre, and the females are on the sidelines. To me, it is a visual representation of how women are stille treated in general. Only 7 of 22 MPPs on our provincial cabinet are women (a mere 31.8%),...

Taking action on climate change is so important because we only have one earth and need to take care of it. Our health is at stake. I pledged to spend an hour reading about heat pumps because I knew their efficiency can translate into significant energy savings and be better for the environment. I realized that an hour of reading is not enough...

We have been thinking about switching to an EV.  We missed the provincial incentive, but there is still the federal incentive...which makes it more affordable. Other that being great for the environment, there are few ongoing costs - no gas, lot less maintenance.  It only makes sense. From previous research, I was sold on the Prius Prime...

For me, a sustainable community would meet the criteria for a "Donut Economy" as outlined by Economist Kate Raworth.  In such a community (they're doing it in Amsterdam, for example), the 12 basic needs of people are the first priority (inner ring). And communities/countries attempt to meet those needs within the outer ecological ring...

To celebrate Earth Day I decided to try to eat and dress locally (theoretically if not actually right now because I haven’t shopped for a year! ) I found that I had to cheat as I started the day with a cup of coffee (or I would have had a headache!) but the rest of the day was O.K. When it came to clothing I also had to start by cheating as i...

In Canada, we mainly use the terms "packaged on" "best before" and "expiry date". Understanding these terms is helpful to avoid food being thrown out unnecessarily. For example, you can buy and eat foods after the best-before date has passed--the best-before date is a guideline for something to be consumed, an...

I have been doing more walking this past month. I have set a goal and use the pedometer on my watch to help me meet my daily goal. It is one of the few things that we can safely do during covid. I enjoy going for walk in park settings (conservation areas) but they have been really busy.
