Turns out a number of my bulbs were already LED, I had forgotten I'd replaced them. And a few others were an unpleasant surprise of being the wrong size for the LED bulbs I had access to. So replaced fewer than planned but still feeling good about where I'm at!

Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Smart Seafood Choices
Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

I avoid eating local fish due to the advisories.  However, I do buy seafood through Sitka Salmon Shares to support their local fisheries in their sustainable fishing practices.

I am trying to buy as much local food as possible.  The first thing I look at on food packaging is where is this product being made and then what are the ingredients.

    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

I notice details in my environment the most when walking, then when biking. Public transit isn't available in my rural area, but I find driving is the most inherently mindless and creates the most distance from my environment and the present moment.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

I enjoy my food and companions more when I'm not distracted by my phone (or other devices).

What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

I'd enjoy more unpaved walking paths—like wood chips or gravel

The Ecochallenge is a daily reminder and gentle nudge to not just do our normal good work for the earth but a little or a lot more...our kids and grandkids deserve all of our best efforts. Think about those seven generations and beyond!

Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

My grandfather used to milk his own cows, bottle the milk, and deliver it to members of his community in SW Wisconsin (80+ years ago). It is in my blood to support local sustainable food systems!

Gives me confidence to eat foods past the dates provided on labels and therefore reduce our family waste.
