Can't believe the month is almost over. It was good to have the reminders to do small individual things to help the environment because collectively it will make a difference in the long run. I will try to keep the self awareness going everyday. Kristen - thanks for organizing.

Hiking is one way to take in nature, Sunrise and Sunset hikes I find to be particularly peaceful. Literally silent before the sun come up. Here's a Sunset photo I took from my last hike on Breakneck ridge. Please be careful when hiking in the dark. I'd recommend Sunrise over Sunset for new trails you're unfamiliar with, that way you're getting...

When I purchase something, I no longer request a printed paper receipt but instead have it sent to my email or have no receipt at all instead having the paper waste.

Here's a couple ideas I found for those non-edible parts. You can still put them to use. Banana peels can be rubbed on bug bites to take the itch away. Eggs shells can be used as an abrasive for scrubbing pots and pans or crushed into soil as a nutrient-dense fertilizer. Use dried out corn cobs as a replacement for wood chips when...

Happy Earth Day Purchasing Apple Trees today. Planting them for a more fruitful future.

No more wasting those random cheese remains at the back of the fridge. This pasta bake puts them to great use. Don't throw away cheese that's still good, take them and make this pasta!!! I used much more cheese than this recipes calls for when I made this over the weekend next to some BBQ Chicken. Now those bags with 3 pinches of cheese in...

Changed the daily newspaper that I was receiving from print to digital. This saves paper, ink and the plastic that wraps the paper. Took a while to get used to it but now I don't mind at all.  A small step to reduce waste and help the environment.

For my Keurig coffee maker, I ran out of K-Cups this weekend. Instead of buying more, I will use the re-usable filter basket with ground coffee that I already have. No more single use plastic K-Cups.  I read that the amount of plastic K-Cups trashed in landfills could wrap around the planet more than 10 times. I will do my small contribution...

"Before the Flood, presented by National Geographic, features Leonardo DiCaprio on a journey as a United Nations Messenger of Peace, traveling to five continents and the Arctic to witness climate change firsthand. He goes on expeditions with scientists uncovering the reality of climate change and meets with political leaders fighting...
