April 30 at 2:18 PMThere's so much that a community can do to be sustainable. What's best is that many of these changes are already being done in multiple cities in the world. Here are a few of the things I learned: - Reduce waste! More than recycling we need to stop using unnecessary things like disposable items (bags, utensils, containers, etc). We can...

April 30 at 8:43 AMThanks, EcoChallenge, it was a fantastic opportunity to learn how to impact positively in our environment, and also ensure sustainability to the next generation. Small steps can co contribute to the big challenge!!

April 29 at 9:17 PMI thought I was eco-friendly by avoiding plastic bags in all my shopping and recycling every item I could at home. But this eco-challenge has showed me that there are much larger opportunities for us to reduce our carbon footprint. I hope to continue in my learning and active pursue for a cleaner, brighter, better planet.

April 29 at 9:14 PMGlobally, we produce roughly 310 million tons of plastic each year. Almost all of it is petro-plastic, made from fossil fuels. Experts, however, estimate that 90 percent of current plastics could be derived from plants instead. Bio-based plastics come from the earth, and those that are biodegradable can return to it—often with lower carbon...

April 27 at 10:38 AMEvery now and then my kids ask me for a drive-thru treat... I know I'm not going to get the mother of the year award for feeding my kids fast food. I specifically ask for no condiments and plastic cutlery. Does teaching my young ones to avoid waste count as good mom points? Small changes, can make a big impact :)

April 27 at 8:35 AMTrying to eliminate plastic bag as much as I can. Bananas is an item I no longer use plastic for, nature provided the perfect packaging!

April 23 at 7:25 AMDid you know? - perishable products are usually safe to consume beyond their “best by” date if they’ve been handled and stored properly. The best way to know if your food is still safe to eat is to use your senses. Most food will change color or smell when they have begun to go bad...

April 23 at 7:21 AMDid you know? - The building industry has the potential to have a large impact on drawing down greenhouse gas emissions. There are many different energy efficiency strategies to reduce the impact of buildings. In addition to this, on-site energy generation takes buildings a step further to reduce their impacts. The ideal solution combines both...

April 23 at 7:18 AMDid you know?-- Project Drawdown conducts an ongoing review and analysis of climate solutions—the practices and technologies that can stem and begin to reduce the excess of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. Each solution reduces greenhouse gases by avoiding emissions and/or by sequestering carbon dioxide already in the atmosphere.
