    Walking around the Morton Arboretum this morning gave me the usual feeling of pleasure as I looked out for the birds and listened for the ones I could not see.  Seeing the spring flowers announcing the return of life to the Arboretum made me think of all the springs to come that I want my granddaughters' granddaughters to enjoy in the same...

    Regenerative agriculture helps the climate by sequestering carbon, and it makes farming sustainable. Avoiding toxic pesticides and herbicides also protects our rivers from run-off.

    I've given up on eating all three meals with no distraction. Am doing two and that's an effort. But I do taste the food more when I do it.

    I'm realizing it's easy to fix meals without waste, because much of what I eat is already prepared -- from the deli counter, packaged pasta, or frozen items. Salads and fresh veggies yield a little waste but not much. There is, however, a lot of packaging waste.

    I just sent an email saying I was slacking.  I now see I was able to go back and update my impacts for last week.  Feeling better about this and pushing forward.

    I have trouble doing that. Avocado skins and banana peels don't seem like something I can find a way to eat. Also, I can't eat seeds for health reasons. I avoid waste as much as I can though. Is it cheating to have frozen veggies that are already separated -- like peas or spinach?

    I'd rather be able to donate it to environmental causes.

    It's expensive. But developing countries are starting to eat more meat. It's not as nutritious as plants; and growing livestock, especially cows and sheep, emits the greenhouse gas methane, as well as leading to cutting down forests for grazing and feed.

    Losing some of the extra pounds put on during the pandemic!

    Does it count as waste if you throw out something the cat got into when you left the table for a minute? (I counted it)
