REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksCan biochar provide additional benefits besides sequestering carbon?
Kiera Young 4/12/2021 8:00 AMAbsolutely! Biochar offers a wide range of agricultural benefits, including but not limited to: odor control, preventing unwanted growth such as mold, acting as a substitute for chemical fertilizers by retaining nitrogen and sulfur in the soil thereby reducing emissions. You can also use biochar as a carbon filter and use the heat that it radiates while being processed to cook, heat, etc. further reducing your footprint. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Kiera Young 4/01/2021 2:05 PMI learned that through family planning, we can not only support the wants and needs of women in terms of the controls they have on their lives and reproduction, but that we can also reduce our impact on the planet. I was surprised that despite the disparity between populations of women, the need for education and family planning is consistent globally and in turn has global impacts that have lasting ripple effects on our daily lives and the lives of generations to come.
